I am older now(62), but when I was younger I was attneding a machine shop course. One day the instructor had us watch a film of a surgical operation removing a chip from the eyeball of an individual. When complete the chip was compared to the size of a dime. The chip was very small.
From that day I never entered the shop or any other shop without safety glasses. I also became more aware of other PPE's and wear them faithfully. I used to be one of the biggest offenders when I was young.
