Problem Solving Steps

1. Define the Problem
Real? Symptoms urgent? Timeframes, define in writing
2. Diagnose the Problem
Who? When? Where? Etc.
3. Develop Solutions
Brainstorm. Don't criticize. Use imagination. Quantity, not quality.
4. Select a Solution
Feasible? Necessary resources available (human and financial)? Reliable? Cost-effective? Management support?
5. Implement Solution
Actions. Reasons why. Who's responsible. Deadlines.
6. Evaluate Outcome
Used? Made a difference?
