ITEMS YOU NEED TO INVESTIGATE INCIDENTS

October 22, 2008

There are certain tools and items you'll need to investigate incidents. Failure to have these items on hand can delay the investigation and cause evidence, including witness's memories, to get stale. To avoid this, keep the following items in an easy-to-carry kit that's immediately accessible in the event of an accident:

___ Barricade tape

___ Camera, film and flash with batteries (consider a disposable camera)

___ Chalk and a chalk line

___ Flashlight with batteries

___ Incident reporting forms

___ Notebook or clipboard

___ Pens and pencils

___ Measuring tape

___ Ruler

___ Tape recorder for your own observations

___ Surgical gloves

___ Work gloves
