Safety People don't get standing ovations much.
No cheering or shouting when they get in touch.
Sometimes groans and moans and nasty cracks.
It's a heavy load Safety People carry on their backs.
No, Safety People don't ever get a lot of praise.
And perhaps they have to fight a wee bit harder for a raise.
And safety is a job that's never done.
It's an uphill fight that's never won.
Mostly, it's a thankless job and yet,
Are we proud to be in safety work?  You bet!
For with all the hours of thankless toil and strife,
Deep down, we know we just might save a life.
