Safety Technician

ATCO Structures is currently recruiting for the position of Safety Technician.  Reporting to the Senior Manager, Quality, Health & Safety, you will be responsible for assisting in the pro-active development and implementation of site-specific safety programs in the manufacturing facility.  Specific duties and responsibilities include:

- Facilitating safety training and orientation. 

- Conducting accident investigations and incident prevention.

- Managing WCB claims and disability management.

- Performing plant and work site inspections, corrective measures and follow-up.

- Conducting internal audits in conjunction with the Partnership’s Program.

- Documenting and maintaining training records.

- Evaluating work place procedures to revise current Physical Demand and Job Safety Analysis.

- Assisting the production department and field sites on solving issues and concerns with respect to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and company policies and procedures.

- Compiling, analyzing, interpreting and distributing statistical data to all levels of management within the company.

As the successful candidate, you have completed, or are near completion, of a relevant university or college Occupational Health and Safety Certificate Program. You possess an understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Worker’s Compensation Act and the Board’s policies and procedures. You have experience with MS software and are willing to take a hands-on approach on assigned tasks, working closely with all hourly personnel, supervisors and management. Completion of the Partner’s Internal Audit program, as well as, previous related work experience is an asset.
