Safety Representative
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Leads the implementation of safety and health programs and processes specific to the core, construction, operations and maintenance (O&M), and facilities management businesses. Markets and sells the safety programs and resources to the appropriate internal customers.
- Conducts the start-up/transition activities on new or expanding sites/accounts. These activities include: Evaluation of the site to determine potential hazards, orientation of new employees, initiation of the safety process on-site, and the development of an action plan to establish time frames for meeting specific safety program development as well as ongoing milestones.
- Reviews contract documentation for relevant safety issues that may affect the execution of the safety program at the project or account level. Incorporates contract safety requirements into site-specific programs.
- Conducts safety training for all levels of account/Area/Plant employees based on specific needs and requirements. Training may include CG safety strategies and goals, technical safety and program information, injury trend data, safety/regulatory information pertinent to the business, workers' compensation case management, etc.
- Presents safety program and safety performance data to external customers based on need as established by the customer, account, sales or operations. Presentations are made at any stage of job including proposal, start-up/transition, or on a periodic basis.
- Takes ownership for the initial and/or ongoing safety effort at each assigned new or modified site/account or SSA Area.
- Conducts site safety surveys and/or audits. Works with site/account managers to develop and implement action plans to improve site safety performance. Tracks and measures corrective action and improvement.
- Conducts safety pre-qualification evaluations on subcontractors performing work for JC on sites/accounts. Communicates directly with subs if safety qualification criteria are not met, and where appropriate, works with subs to bring their safety program in compliance with JC requirements.
- Evaluates and analyzes injuries and related trends at assigned accounts, Areas and plants, and works with those operations to establish root causes and associated preventative measures.
- Communicates safety performance metrics and goals for assigned accounts, Areas and plants and regularly tracks and reports site/account and business unit progress against safety goals.
- Plays a significant role in the completion of project work that supports the Safety team's overall goals and direction.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Industrial Safety or related equivalent.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years work experience in service industrial and/or construction safety.
Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Ability to travel 40-50% to support site/accounts, Areas and plants.
