Location:Calgary

Working in Calgary, and traveling when required the Manager Health, Safety and Environment plans, organizes, coordinates, coaches, implements, monitors, and reports on the Health, Safety and Environment Management Program within ATCO Frontec under the direction of the Vice-President Operations.

The Manager Health, Safety and Environment manages a corporate Environment, Health and Safety Program applicable to 1,400 employees working in the areas of airfield operations, facility maintenance, site support services, logistics, and construction services throughout ATCO Frontec’s operating regions in Canada and abroad.

Responsibilities

* Promotes a total environment, health and safety culture

* Communicates the vision and the importance of environmental, health and safety practices and policies, and provides an active and visible leadership role in ongoing environmental, health and safety initiatives

* Leads and coaches personnel in their environment and safety related accountabilities / responsibilities

* Participates in strategic planning sessions and helps develop, formulate and promote environmental, health and safety strategies

* Develops and recommends short and long-term strategies for the future development and maturation of the Environment, Health and Safety Program within the guidelines established by the Vice-President Operations and the ATCO Frontec Annual Business Plan

* Develops, monitors and communicates environment, health and safety performance metrics, and recommends strategies for improvement to senior management

* Provides support to the business units to address sub-standard environmental and safety performance

* Performs the Secretariat function for the ATCO Frontec Environment, Health and Safety Steering Committee

* Plans, coordinates, and administers the Environment, Health and Safety Audit Program

* Investigates, evaluates, reports, all environmental, health and safety incidents, and recommends corrective actions to prevent future occurrences

* Liaises with government agencies to ensure the interests of employees and the organization are assured

* Participates in industry committees and associations related to health and safety

Qualifications

* Prefer University degree in a related field

* Completion of recognized Health and Safety training programs

* CRSP designation

* A minimum 10-12 years of experience in Environment, Health and Safety management, with at least five years or more in a medium or large corporate environment

* A visionary leader with proven management, communication and analytical skills.

* Strong problem solving skills combined with a creative spirit; and a highly inquisitive approach

* A self-starter with above average experience/knowledge in team building, and relationship building in a cross-cultural environment
