Health and Safety Manager/Quality Assurance Manager

Sodexo is proud to have been selected to provide the catering and housekeeping services for the Athlete Villages for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  Athletes will reside in two Villages, one located in Vancouver and the other located in Whistler.  If required, accommodations are available for this position in both Whistler and Vancouver.  The duration of the 2010 Games is from the end of January to the end of March.

Your Contribution

As the Health and Safety Manager at one of our accounts, you will be responsible for coordinating, developing, and implementing the Sodexo health and safety programs in accordance with company standards and industry best practices in the designated provinces.  In addition, the Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for processing and managing workers’ compensation cases in the designated provinces. The successful candidate will effectively manage safety to reduce frequency and severity of incidents.  The end result will be an effective safety culture through safety training, risk assessments, employee engagement, and involvement and claims/disability management.

Accountabilities

  • Works in conjunction with operating unit management, in employee engagement and participation in safety to reduce/prevent incidents and manage Workers’ Compensation claims efficiently and effectively to minimize the financial impact to Sodexo;
  • Assist management in developing and delivering health & safety/workers’ compensation training to employees;
  • Drive “vision of zero incidents” principles;
  • Develop, implement, and monitors workers’ compensation claims procedures, and activities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies, laws, standards, and guidelines while operating within Sodexo policy and procedures.
  • Provide support with on-site incident investigations as required.

Learn, Grow, Develop

  • Post Secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience
  • CRSP designation or equivalent would be an asset
  • Experience and or knowledge in food, facilities, or maintenance work
  • Advanced level of knowledge of health and safety practices and legislation
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and engage management employees
  • Strong organizational skills
