Health and Safety Manager

GENCO currently has an opening for a Health and Safety Manager to support our new distribution center located in Coteau-de-Lac, Quebec. The facility distributes product for a major Canadian retailer and will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, employing 700 hourly employees and 50 plus management employees.

The position is responsible for:

  • Responsible for developing/enforcing company regulations, policies, procedures and programs in matters pertaining to workplace accidents
  • In collaboration with the management team, analyze existing preventative programs and formulate recommendations for improvement
  • Develop and implement Health and Safety Training Programs
  • Advise and counsel the management team on legislations and regulations pertaining to Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Participate in the internal and Head Office safety and security audits
  • Manage ongoing employee accident files, and ensure that the appropriate appeal process is followed
  • Communicate Health and Safety information/documentation to the appropriate group(s)
  • Perform Health and Safety inspections and investigations
  • Analyze CSST monthly results, investigation reports and statistics to assess trends and make recommendations
  • Prepare cost sharing documentation to be sent to CSST
  • Ensure liaison with the appropriate Federal and Provincial workplace agencies
  • All other tasks as assigned by management.

Required Skills

The successful candidate will have:

  • University Certificate with specialization in a Health and Safety discipline/ or related field
  • Minimum of 6 to 8 years pertinent experience
  • Bilingualism (French and English) oral and written mandatory
  • Strong knowledge of Quebec Health and Safety regulations and legislation
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong leadership, organizational, time management, and planning skills
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills
  • Results oriented
