Description
This position reports to the Technical Manager.
The Health and Safety Coordinator performs a strategic and hands-on role by providing guidance and technical support to the portfolio. Administers global and site specific requirements of the ProFac Risk Management Program, in accordance with federal, provincial and municipal legislation. As a member of this team, you will support facilities and project work by monitoring contractors and participating in decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify potential or existing risks, put in place new strategies aimed at eliminating our diminishing risks and accidents.
Ensure compliance by the company to the laws, regulations and standards of SST and to the application of these in regards to the entire staff.
Elaborate, conceive, update, apply and ensure the follow-up of the preventive programs, the health and safety programs and the action plans of SST in collaboration with the directors, managers and staff.
Elaborate or revise the policies, directives and necessary procedures for integration to the SST in the Security Management System and see to the development of tools to assist the managers in attaining this goal.
Implement an inspection and audit program, proceed with regular inspections and ensure a follow-up.
Supervise SST projects, mainly lockout programs, security in regards to machinery and height (fall prevention) and WHIMS.
Collaborate with the Health and Safety committees and ensure a follow-up with all external partners, suppliers and subcontractors.
Develop and implement training in regards to SST.
Participate in investigations and accident analysis and recommend corrective measures.
Elaborate performance indicators, dashboard and ensure follow-up.
Perform all other related duties.
Support the Facility Managers in meeting the H&S requirements outlined in the SNC-LAVALIN ProFac - PWGSC Safety & Health Statement of Work
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Risk Management Program. Lead teams where applicable and act as a resource/ support to their regional and local facilities.
Act as a contact for all persons carrying out work in a facility.
Ensure that contractors work within the jurisdiction of their respective Provincial
Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Act abide by all facility OHS practices and procedures.
Conduct random and scheduled site visits.
Advise contractors of the presence of designated substances and other facility hazards to coordinate the completion of hazard managements plans as required.
Coordinate OHS education programs for the protection, improvement and maintenance of employees’ health and safety.
Support Maintenance Team Leaders and Managers by participating in the accident investigation process and the implementation of follow-up action plans.
Coordinate communication of work activities with clients and tenants as required.
Provides superior customer service to the client and tenants.
Support the OHS teams, Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC), CSST’s and where possible is a certified member of the JHSC. Is a member of the Extended Canadian
Safety and Risk Management Team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Completed Secondary School education.
3-5 years experience in OHS Environment.
1-3 years knowledge of safety system audits and management.
2-5 years experience in construction and project site safety management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (French language is an asset).
Experience or knowledge in WHMIS, WSI/WCB act (WSI/WCB legislation).
Good knowledge of risk management principles or other OHS related training.
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment while maintaining
attention to detail, is action oriented, and is results driven.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Current professional designation or ability to achieve CRSP or other OHS designation as required.
The successful candidate must be able to obtain a CRSP designation
