Field Environmental Health & Safety Advisor – Sherwood Park

The Field Environmental Health & Safety Advisor will be located in our Sherwood Park office and will report to the Team Leader – Environment, Health & Safety (“EH&S”). The primary function of this position is to provide pipeline operations with technical and regulatory guidance, and manage environmental, health and safety programs.

 

This position requires frequent travel to support our northern field operations around Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Bonnyville and Western Saskatchewan.

 

 

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

·           Ensure continued improvement and implementation of existing safety and health programs.

·           Provide support to field operations acting as the safety subject matter expert.

·           Conduct regular inspections of IPF operations and construction projects.

·           Participate in or lead incident investigations.

·           Support the Environmental Advisor on remediation and monitoring projects.

·           Participate in compliance audits of facilities, offices and internal standards.

·           Work with project managers and engineers to ensure safety and health protection forms part of every project.

·           Co-Chair the pipeline working group’s Joint EH&S Committee.

·           Provide advice and feedback to management, operations supervisors and contractors related to safety and health matters.

·           Deliver IPF EH&S training.

·           Work closely with the Team Leader – EH&S to develop and implement the IPF Industrial Hygiene program

·           Serve as a site EH&S specialist during emergency response and recovery events.

 

 

Education, Skills and Experience:

·           5 - 7 years field-level experience as an environmental health and safety advisor, preferably in the energy industry.

·           Completion of post-secondary education in environmental, safety and health management (e.g. Occupational Health & Safety Management Certificate or Environmental Management Certificate Program).

·           Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent would be an asset.

·           Strong familiarity with environmental, occupational health and safety regulations and practices (AB, SK, Federal).

·           Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·           Demonstrated ability to work independently and setting work schedule and activities in a coordinated manner.

·           Must demonstrate strong teamwork, organizational skills and be detail orientated while handling multiple tasks.
