About The Business
Cargill Meat Solutions business, headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, is comprised of 7 business units including beef, pork, turkey, value added meats, case ready, distribution and feeder operations. Meat Solutions has 35,000 employees, with sales and distributions to 40 countries and declared revenues of $15 billion. Meat Solutions produces such recognized brands as Angus Pride, Sterling Silver, Tender Choice and Excel meats. Our Case Ready business unit is comprised of 5 existing plants throughout the United States and Canada. Case Ready is a meat processing operation supplying grocery retailers with consumer ready meat including beef, pork, sausage, poultry and ground beef.
We currently have an opportunity in our Case Ready business unit for an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator located in Calgary, Alberta. This is a start-up plant working closely with the existing Case Ready plants in Toronto, Ontario and Chambly, Quebec.
Accountabilities
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will prepare and deliver all safety training programs as well as develop the curriculum and annual safety training schedule. They will update and monitor plant safety activities to ensure compliance with government legislation and corporate and divisional policy.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and monitor all safety training programs.
- Conduct and coordinate plant training classes, lost time meetings, and training schedules.
- Participating member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Track and follow-up on all work orders.
- Assist with the management of Incident Report Investigations.
- Assist with the management of Statistical Reports.
- STOP Program Management.
- Management of Lockout Program.
- Material handling equipment program management.
- Assist with the upkeep of the Safety Program.
Qualifications
- Must have a college diploma in a related field.
- At least 2 years of previous experience in a similar role, within the manufacturing or process industry.
- Knowledge of Alberta safety legislation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally.
- Must be comfortable speaking in front of large audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Easily adapts to change - learning new programs and procedures.
- Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle tight deadlines.
- Must have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
