DetailsSafety Management Resources, LLC is looking for a highly motivated, self-managed independent loss control consultant to work on a contractual, freelance basis, specifically in the Northern New Jersey, New York City and Northern New York regions, including the Buffalo and Rochester areas. The individual must
have a B.S. in Occupational Safety & Hygiene Management and must have the ability to travel.
Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities:
- Report regularly to SMR management.
- Manage Assignments with variety of risks and lines of insurance coverage.
- Training will be provided in lines of coverage as provided by our insurance clients.
- Conduct loss control surveys at client locations to determine potential hazards and risk factors to be considered in underwriting/risk selection.
- Write technically detailed reports that provide a clear assessment of risk and clearly articulate recommendations.
- Consult with clients on ways to control hazards in order to reduce or prevent losses.
- Consistently influence clients to implement recommendations.
- Participate in incident investigations and safety stand meetings as required.
- Analyze loss trends and recognize opportunities to provide safety & loss control services which can help reduce losses.
- Analyze loss information to identify root causes and develop loss sensitive recommendations.
- Provide safety & health training and education for clients.

Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, both technical and nontechnical.
- Ability to work cooperatively with team members, clients and subcontractors.
- Ability to develop and conduct presentations for safety & health training purposes.
- Ability to interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
