Current Position:Domtar Paper Company LLC. . Safety Coordinator
My current employment is with a union Pulp and Paper manufacturing facility along with 450 employees who operate two paper machines and one pulp machine. In support of those processes we have a
number of utility areas such as recovery boilers, bleach plants, wood-yard, etc. Our employees face risks everyday in the form of weather, moving equipment, chemical use, etc. But over the past 10
years the mill.s injury rates have continued to decline to a 1.13 YTD. Additionally, the employees achieved a new record earlier this year by going 258 days without a recordable incident. I have
only been at the mill a short period of time compared to most of the employees here, but the key to our injury reduction lies in the hands of the employees. With their input and intervention, we
work towards eliminating risk in all that we do. It.s not always easy, but I continue to hear from more employees about how they believe we .can. beat our goals and achieve a Zero incident
rate.
