Topic: ABOUT THAT VIDEO

Where To Get It

March 16, 2009

I wanted to purchase a copy of the video too, so I went to the home page of Harsco Corp., the parent company of SGB, where there was a “Contact us” link. I emailed them expressing how impressed I was with the video and my desire to obtain a copy. I very quickly received a response asking for my mailing address, which I provided. In a couple of days I received a complimentary copy of the video with a nice letter from a Mr. Brian West, Harsco’s Director of Global Health and Safety. In the letter he outlined some conditions for use, such as no duplicating or commercial use, and a request for future sharing of H & S Best Practices between our two organizations. I have already used the video in training and will be using it twice more in the coming week. My thanks to Harsco / SGB for this contribution to world-wide awareness of H & S, and to SafetyXChange for being the vehicle that brought this to us.

Thank you,

Editor’s Note: Sounds like someone should nominate Harsco/SGB for a Saxcie™. Any company that freely donates their material on the condition of further sharing of health and safety best practices certainly exemplifies the qualities of a corporate leader in safety.

Yes! I too inquired about a copy of the video and was promptly asked for my mailing address and shortly thereafter received a complimentary copy along with the same note from Bryan West.
Thank you for sharing this video and kudos to Harsco for sharing it so freely!

SGB, and specifically their Head of Safety, Neil Murray (based in the UK: email nmurray@sgb.com ), are to be complimented on their excellent video (I have sent my plaudits personaly to Neil in the past). We were working colleagues, I was the Safety Director in a sister Harsco Company for a number of years and I introduced Neil a few years ago to the guy who should get the REAL plaudits, the video Writer, Producer and Director, Jeff Osment (email jeff@picwords.co.uk ). Jeff and I created some great safety videos over the years, a couple of which won International Awards, but this video is probably his best because it is one everyone but everyone can relate to. If you want an idea for a safety video, Jeff's your man. All, continue to enjoy and use the video.
