A Warm Welcome to the 2009 Saxcies™ Awards Ceremony
Thank you for attending SafetyXChange’s the annual Saxcies™ Awards ceremony. This is our fourth ceremony and the first one we’ve done “virtually.”
We created the Saxcies™ Awards in 2006 to bestow upon safety professionals some measure of the recognition they’re so often denied by the companies and workers they serve. To be sure, safety professionals prefer to do their work unnoticed. After all, it’s only when something goes wrong that the safety professional garners attention.
Once a year, the members of SafetyXChange deviate from this pattern by recognizing safety professionals for their achievements. In fact, the safety profession is dedicated to an ideal that’s so fundamental that most people take it for granted. The ideal is that every effort must be made to ensure that people who show up for work each day return home at the end of their shift alive and in one piece.
The men and women who are about to receive Saxcies™ Awards today exemplify the qualities that contribute to the achievement of this ideal – leadership, courage, imagination, hard work, dedication, etc.
But while we are bestowing recognition on these deserving individuals, let none of us forget that all of those who dedicate their lives to protecting us are heroes – even if they don’t have the Greek helmeted Saxcie™ trophy to attest to it.
Thank you again, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the proceedings. Please join the 2009 Saxcies Awards ceremony here.
