Fall Protection Safety Alert

February 23, 2009

I’ve always carried Single Action Snap Hooks from project to project to simulate the potential for ‘roll out’ in a fall protection system. But I must admit that this has never happened when I demonstrate on the Double Action Snap Hooks. Now that I’ve seen the potential from this alert, I’ve been able to simulate it easily after only a couple of attempts. It actually becomes surreal just how easy it is, and makes me wonder why it never came to light before now.

Please pass the alert along to your contacts in all business groups... It is THAT important.

Good info: thanks. I passed both on to several safety folks.

I appreciate all the great news shared within the EHS community. Sometimes, just like a newsreporter, it is a good idea to check information sources. The Snaphook safety alert has some incorrect information and a follow-up was published by the manufacturer who was cited in the alert. You can find the manufacturer's response at: http://www.saferight.com.au/news/Double%20Action%20Snap%20Hook%2010-Oct-08.pdf Still excellent information and important that training be done properly.
