To Eat or Not to Eat?
February 9, 2009
What you eat beforehand affects your workout. If you go to the gym hungry, it’s difficult to stay motivated.
Have a fruit snack ten minutes before your workout instead of a meal bar. Meal replacement products are handy when you don’t have time for a salad, but a 200-calorie meal bar during workout defeats any weigh-loss purpose. Your body burns the rush of sugar, leaving fat reserves intact. Banana or apple calories aren’t refined sugar, and about half as many calories. Burning more calories than you consume causes weight loss.
If you work out in the morning, don’t skimp on calories. And always drink plenty of water.
