A “Berry” Uncomfortable Situation

September 21, 2009

Move over, green thumb. Have you heard about BlackBerry Thumb? It’s the term used to describe a painful condition experienced by people who let their fingers – er, thumbs – fly while sending floods of emails, texting and twittering on the tiny portable electronic keyboards.

When using a conventional computer keyboard, eight fingers and two thumbs are sharing the workload, but that’s not possible when a person uses a tiny device instead.

Anyone using these devices and experiencing thumb pain should consider two possible solutions:

  • Type shorter messages; and
  • Give your thumbs a break by using a pencil eraser to tap out replies.
